TRUGS Teach Reading Using Games at Home
Making learning to read fun, TRUGs is designed to aid children who have difficulty reading, cannot read or have dyslexia. Created by a phonetics specialist, this ‘at home’ edition allows parents and teachers to support the teaching methods of systematic synthetic phonics in a hugely engaging way. Each set contains phonics card games that can be used to sound out phonemes to enhance the child’s knowledge of letter-sound correspondences. With each stage building on the one before, all an individual must do is play the card games which are quick, fun and easy to play. Through playing ‘Get it’,’ Match it’ and ‘Take it’, progress with reading is inevitable; individuals pick up the phonics patterns easily, reinforcing them every time they play. You can also reverse this usage to focus on spelling skills. Most importantly, this is not only an effective way to practice and develop these skills, it’s also fun!
